THE LIFE DEEDS WAY

Life Deeds, Inc., a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was launched in 2009 as a community-based initiative that serves high-risk youth and adults throughout the District and Maryland. We seek to ensure that the community at-large is better off by offering assistance with housing, employment, and strength-based initiatives.

Housing Services

Life Deeds has been a housing provider throughout the District and Maryland. Since 2012, when we launched an independent living program for youth and young adults to bridge the gap between workforce and quality housing. What we quickly discovered was that housing alone was not enough to help move the needle of progress for the participants. It was then that we designed a holistic initiative that includes congregate care and independent housing. Our goals were simple, provide high-end housing facilities, coupled with excellent programming and a plethora of living options upon the participants exit.

Community Based Services

Life Deeds connects youth and families with several important community supports, each unique to their needs and availability of local resources. So, what do we mean when we say “Community-Based?”  We are strengthening the connection between youth, their families, and their local community resources. Specifically, resources they can access even after we’ve stopped providing services. Resources can be natural or formal support, such as counseling services, recreational experiences, housing support and healthcare. These are provided by local organizations or led by individual leaders in the community.

Changing Lives With Good Deeds

Doing Good is a simple and universal vision. A vision to which each and every one of us can connect and contribute to its realization. A vision based on the belief that by doing good deeds, positive thinking and affirmative choice of words, feelings and actions, we can enhance goodness in the world.

THE POWER OF PROGRAMS

Community based programs provide families with access to critical resources and services in supportive environments that enhance protective factors. These resources can help agencies work with families, stakeholders, and service providers to create strong, community-based collaborative programs.

Families First DC

Families First DC (FFDC) is a neighborhood-based, whole family approach for vulnerable families who live in the District of Columbia. FFDC is designed to disrupt the way services are delivered in ten neighborhoods where barriers to well-being, economic opportunity, and achievement are most acute.

Community Leaders, Employee’s and Volunteers play an important role in bringing us “One Step Closer To Fulfilling Life Deeds” by providing much appreciated and valued assistance. Life Deeds provides opportunities for individuals and organizations to play a key role in community base programing that will not only shed light on what’s going on in and around communities, but help build our communities up, with youth and adult support systems set in place for us to succeed one neighborhood at a time.
